RIVA

K64KODACHROME 64

A panoramic film camera for iPhone, built to answer one question: what would this scene look like through a Minolta Riva onto Kodachrome 64?

01 · The camera

Nothing covers the field of view.

The 2.663:1 viewfinder sits full-width against the top edge. Every control lives in the black band beneath it. The only thing on the picture is the shutter.

The Riva camera screen: the viewfinder against the top edge, every control in the band beneath it.

02 · The film

One stock. 4 decisions.

A single reversal-film response across every focal length. The film settings hold only halation, bloom, grain and light leak levels; tap one to step through them.

03 · Split diopter

Two distances, one frame.

Riva takes one photograph at near focus and one at far focus, then blends the two halves before the film is developed. Drag the line to place the split; tap a label to swap sides.

Riva's split diopter controls: near and far focus, which side is near, and blend.

04 · Posting

A frame Instagram will not cut.

A Riva frame is wider than Instagram keeps whole, so the gallery can save a version it will not crop.
